Artists Against AI and Algorithms Creatives Showcase - Summer 2025

Come and watch live streams of various creatives to connect with people - not platforms - and fight back against the algorithms that manipulate our social climate online.

Update: With the lack of creatives signed up, the September event is effectively cancelled. However, there will hopefully be a small stream running for part of the event to share more about the ethos and reasons behind the choices behind the event.

More events are planned in the future!

Many people have never seen PeerTube before so this is a chance to just see what the UI looks like and how a livestream is presented. It will be very simple and low-key and only run for a part of the time.

Who: Creatives and anyone who supports creative human endeavors. Artists, spoken word artists, textiles, ceramics, makers - all welcome.

What: A Live Stream Parade featuring a different creative every hour over 2 days.

Where: Online. No accounts are needed to participate either as a Creative or a viewer. All streams will be broadcast using non-big-social media platforms, primarily PeerTube.

When: September 19 and 20, 2025

Why: People have little opportunity to discover Creatives in the flood of algorithms and AI-generated content. This event is a celebration of people, creatives, and the human experience without the influence of giant companies.

How does it work:

  • There will be a Main Lobby live stream running for the duration of the event for people to come and get more information, direct people to the currently active stream, as well as progress on the current schedule.

  • Streamers will be provided a custom URL to stream to during the event.

  • Viewers simply visit a unique link for each stream when the time comes.

  • Each time slot will have one streamer and when the stream is done, the "parade" will be directed to the next stream starting at that time.

  • Streamers can use existing streaming software like OBS Studio with little change other than the destination to stream to.

  • Creatives who are not streamers can use software like OBS Studio to get set up, or can use a simple mobile app to turn a smartphone into a live-streaming camera to be used for the event.

  • Viewers do not need an account to view or comment. Viewers who do happen to have a PeerTube account on a server that supports the LiveChat plugin can view and comment using that account.

Additional Goals and Philosophy of the Showcase Live Stream:

Another key goal is to have an event where everyone builds each other up in a wholesome, and free-from-hate environment. It's about celebrating each and every person in the event, building each other up in community and safety. Everyone supporting each other to the benefit of all.
